Coffee with Conservationists
invest - collaborate - educate
Coffee with Conservationists was born out of The Belize Collection’s desire to make meaningful impact in areas of environmental sustainability. We wanted to go beyond our environmentally friendly practices already taking place at our resorts. What began as a simple Earth Day idea panned out into a year-long project involving eight conservation organizations. Our team felt strongly about using the platform we’ve steadily built with our brand to give an audience to crucial blue and green conservation work taking place in Belize. We wanted to have important conversations about the daily work that takes place behind the scenes to keep Belize a beloved little country and top tourist destination. We saw a gap we could fill.

PANTHERA BELIZE
Belize is known for being home to the world’s only jaguar preserve located in the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. This famous preserve was established by Panthera, a conservation group dedicated to researching big cats in Belize. Since 2008, Panthera has been using data gathered by their camera traps to help establish protected areas for jaguars. The organization has also been instrumental in human-jaguar conflict programs and assisting the Belize government with establishing programs that protect both farmers and jaguars. To learn more about the iconic big cat that Belize is home to, The Belize Collection sat down with Country Coordinator Emma Sanchez.
