ArtistS in Residence
At The Belize Collection, we firmly believe in embracing the concept of being fearlessly authentic. In line with this ethos, we created the Artist in Residence program, to provide opportunities for artists to exhibit their work at our resorts. This unique endeavor aims to showcase the extraordinary talents of artists from various disciplines and allow visitors worldwide to admire their captivating creations.
The program is one of the many initiatives undertaken to support artists as our collection of resortsserves as a platform to showcase and celebrate the works of artists and local artisan products.
In May 2023, we proudly welcomed our first group of artists to the program. Now, the grounds at The Rainforest Lodge at Sleeping Giant and The Banks are home to three sculptures. In 2025, we hosted Yaoling Lee, Belizean artist, at The Rainforest Lodge at Sleeping Giant, The Banks, and The Lodge at Jaguar Reef. Exhibition dates coming soon.

2025 Residency - Yaoling Lee
Yaoling Lee is a Taiwanese-Belizean artist who has lived in Belize since 1999. She studied at Fu-Hsin Trade & Arts School in Taiwan, and spent seven years in France and Spain — including time in Paris, Barcelona, and Salamanca — furthering her education at renowned institutions such as École des Beaux-Arts, Académie de la Grande Chaumière, and Studio Berçot. After raising three children, she reignited her creative journey through the 100 Portrait Studies project, which marked her return to painting.
Yaoling’s practice spans plein air oil painting, urban watercolor sketching, and sculpture. Her work explores the act of seeing — how presence, memory, and emotion are captured through observation. She regularly exhibits, teaches, and travels to paint, driven by a deep commitment to growth, beauty, and lifelong learning.
