Xunantunich and Inland Blue Hole
Departs from Umaya Resort
After a scenic drive along the Hummingbird and Western Highways, we first explore the Maya site of Xunantunich or (Stone Maiden). Located near the Guatemalan border, a hand-cranked ferry will take you across the Macal River to this major ceremonial center situated high on a limestone ridge with a panoramic view of the Cayo District. The main temple, El Castillo, is the second tallest maya structure in the country. Once done with the tour, we stop at a local restaurant. On our way back we stop for a fresh swim in the mesmerizing waters if the inland Blue Hole.
