Xunantunich Maya Site
Departs from The Rainforest Lodge at Sleeping Giant
Located in the Cayo District, the archaeological site Xunantunich is an excellent tour for all ages. Xunantunich, which translates to “Maiden of the Rock”, is best known for El Castillo, the second- highest structure in Belize. This site consists of six major Mayan plazas and 25 temples. Highlights include stelae carved into the facade of the Mayan temples and amazing views for those adventurous enough to scale to the top. After working up an appetite exploring the temples you’ll stop at Benny’s Kitchen for a local lunch.
