Maya Chocolate Tour

Departs from Hopkins

At a local cacao farm, you’ll be able to see cacao pods fresh off the tree with the seed still covered in sweet fleshy fruit. You’ll be taken through the entire process of traditional chocolate making which includes grinding the cacao into a paste with a mortar and pestle. You will learn about the history and significance of cacao in the Mayan culture, including its use as currency. The chocolate paste you created will set in the fridge and you’ll be able to taste organic chocolate, handmade by you, straight from the source.
