Nim Li Punit Maya Ruin inherited it’s named from a carving on the longest of sites twenty-six stone monuments or Stelae, depicting a figure wearing a large headdress. The site has some prominence in the culture of the ancient Maya site in Southern Belize. Nim Li Punit is comprised of two of the most fascinating complexes,” the Plaza of the Royal Tombs and the Plaza of the Stellae”. Lubanntun, which means “place of the fallen stones” is a modern name for the site. It is also the largest Maya site in Southern Belize. It is well known for the unusual style of construction and is a late classic ceremonial center dated to 700-900AD.
