How to Get Married In Belize

To be wed in Belize, both individuals must be present in the country for a minimum of three days prior to applying for the marriage license. This makes for the perfect opportunity to spend time exploring the jungles, enjoying the sun-soaked beaches, and relishing our unmatched amenities. After three days in Belize, the marriage application can be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.

The application process takes only a day so be sure to bring along documentation of proof of citizenship and an original birth certificate, along with proof that any previous marriage has ended, such as a divorce decree or death certificate, if applicable. These documents must be presented along with a valid passports, and will be verified by a Justice of the Peace.
